Several members of the Philippine Alliance for Recycling and Materials Sustainability (PARMS) was hosted a tour by The Philippine Industry Association newly opened Simulation Packaging Testing Laboratory (SPTL) and Green Packaging Laboratory (GPL) at the Department of Science and Technology Compound in Taguig City last July 28, 2022.

The SPTL and GPL, a DOST GIA funded project, was unveiled last June 20, 2022. While the new laboratories are still work-in progress, these are now operational and open for packaging research collaboration.

Briefly, the establishment of SPTL aims to address the problem of high damage during the delivery of goods, and reduce the high food loss/spoilage of horticultural products in the supply chain. It will also serve the growing needs of the different industry sectors in testing the performance of transport packaging in the supply chain and in developing suitable distribution packaging for products in the E-delivery service. Side by side with the establishment of SPTL is the creation of GPL which will serve as venue of collaboration with different stakeholders in the development of green and sustainable packaging materials and technologies.
